Veria Living, a leading media company devoted to showcasing wellness programming and related lifestyle content, today announced the new original series Good Food America with Nathan Lyon has begun production. Hosted by former Next Food Network Star finalist and author Chef Nathan Lyon (PBS’ Growing a Greener World, A Lyon In The Kitchen), the series will take viewers on a culinary adventure in search of the healthiest places to eat across America.

In each episode, Chef Nathan Lyon will travel the country exploring restaurants and sharing the secrets of the signature dishes that keep health-conscious foodies coming back for more. The series will make stops in California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin. Production runs through mid-May.

The show is being produced by Two River Pictures, who were recently nominated for a James Beard Award in culinary programming for the one hour special The Four Coursemen on Cooking Channel.

Nathan Lyon is a classically trained chef with a degree in Health Science. He is best known to television audiences for his simple, innovative cuisine featuring fresh, seasonal, local ingredients. Chef and co-host of PBS’ Growing A Greener World, Chef Lyon was the creator and host of A Lyon in the Kitchen and among the final four on the second season of The Next Food Network Star. Chef Nathan Lyon recently released his first cookbook, Great Food Starts Fresh.

About Chef Lyon

Chef Nathan Lyon got a fresh outlook on cooking while backpacking through Europe; after stockpiling a massive amount of produce at a local market, an old woman asked

“Why are you buying so much food? Why not just buy fresh every day?”

These words of wisdom inspired Nathan not only in his cooking, but in his outlook on life.

In addition to using only the freshest and most natural ingredients in his signature dishes, his fresh perspective has earned him a Culinary Arts Degree from Le Cordon Bleu in Los Angeles, a wealth of time in (and out of) the kitchens of famous restaurants, and opportunities to work alongside local growers in California farmers markets for over a decade.

Chef Nathan Lyon is known to television audiences for his time as Chef and co-host of PBS’ Growing a Greener World and his top-four placement on the second season of Food Network’s The Next Food Network Star. He was also the creator and host of A Lyon in the Kitchen on Discovery Health and Fit TV. Chef Nathan has penned two books, a collection of his critically-acclaimed recipes, Great Food Starts Fresh, and a children’s book made in conjunction with his brother Craig, Sam the Clam.

Nathan has cooked for the Inspector General, cooked and spoken at numerous charity functions, and is one of the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s 2011 Sustainable Seafood Ambassadors.
